TagAlong was treated with intravenous fluids for 3 days and started on antibiotics because of a concurrent bactiuria (bacteria in the urine). The infection may have been in the kidneys (pyelonephritis) or in the bladder (cystitis). The owner continued fluid therapy at home by giving subcutaneous fluids. Several weeks later when she was feeling much better and gained 2 pounds, a cystotomy (surgery to open the bladder and remove the stones) was performed.
