Maggie is now the picture of health. She runs, jumps, and acts crazy. She even makes the daring leap that got her into trouble.
In October when she was 11 weeks old, she fell from the railing of a two-story foyer trying to make it to the window above the front door to get a better view. Well, she miscalculated. She fractured her left femur (thigh bone).

Maggie was referred to Dr Charles Kuntz at the Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, Virginia. He is a board certified surgeon. He placed an intramedullary pin in the shaft of the two pieces of the bone. To provide rotational stability, external fixation was also utilized.

This is how the leg looked after the surgery.

After 6 weeks of rest, the pins were removed and Maggie went on with her life.
