Case of the Month

July/August 2001

Kita is a two and a half year old Tonkinese. While performing her high-wire act, she fell off the deck. She immediately started favoring her left rear foot. Her fifth toe was at abnormal angle.

An X-ray was taken. The fifth toe had been dislocated.

Kita was sedated, and the toe was replaced into the appropriate position. A splint was applied for 2 weeks. At that time, the splint was removed and she was instructed not to resume deck antics for another week.
