To remove the linear foreign body, a gastrotomy (the opening of the stomach) and 3 enterotomies ( the opening of the intestine) were performed. The intussusceptions were manually reduced. The toy had to be removed in pieces to prevent further damage to the intestines. The fringed part of the toy was lodged in the pylorus which is the junction of the stomach and the small intestines. Bart recovered uneventfully.
